Columbia Road Flower Market in London’s bustling east end is a must. I would thoroughly encourage you to go and visit. The flower market is open every Sunday and they proudly state on there website ‘open rain or shine”. It’s obviously a much more enjoyable day out, if its not raining!
The market its-self is a heavenly experience on your senses. Visually the abundance of so many vivid colours and varieties of flowers is breathtaking. The heady aroma of so many blooms is akin to the finest perfume. The atmosphere is buzzing, with stall holders giving good banter with the customers and to those just there for the spectacle of it all. The street is also home to a varied selection of tiny boutique shops, home to many designer makers and antique finds. One is particular that stood out, having seen there work many times over in craft magazines was ‘Jessie Chorley and Buddug The Shop‘. Love Jeesie Chorleys delicate hand embroidered work and have been lusting over owning a pieces of enamelled ware by Buddug for some time. One day I will own a plate with a Dolly Parton quote on it! If your not familiar with Buddug, please do check out her work “here“.
If any of you have been already been, I would love to hear your experiences of this historic flower market? If you haven’t been already, please do visit Columbia road flower market and see for your selfs. You will love it I am sure. xxx
