I loved this alternative wedding. It was totally unique to Lilli and Ollie which absolutely suited them and in keeping with how they live their lives.
The legal bit was performed at Horsham registry office, then it was back to Lilly’s godmothers house in West Sussex, for the hand fasting ceremony, which was performed by an old friend of them both. Romani traditions were weaved together with element from pagan, celtic and Wiccan folklore.
Friends and family had all come together not only to celebrate with them but also to build the reception from scratch. Rigging up marques, building the bar and carving the bar top, even the tent pegs were made on site. Everyone bought a dish, music was provided by their friends band and Lilly’s dress was hand made by a clever seamstress girlfriend. A lamb was cooked using a technique of slow cooking, where you build a huge fire then let the embers die down, put the lamb wrapped up in foil on top of it, then burry it in soil. Leave for 24 hours, then dig it out and voila the most tender lamb you will have ever eaten.
This wedding was also featured on the wonderfull Festival Brides wedding blog. If you would like to read how Lilli and Ollie planned their day please follow this LINK!
