Vinita & Zoe – A Civil Partnership Marriage at The Turner Contemporary Art Gallery Margate

When Vinita and Zoe decided to make it official, they knew exactly where they wanted to do it: The Turner Contemporary Art Gallery in Margate. Why? Well, not only does it offer stunning views of the sea and sky, but supporting a place that champions local art and community just felt right to them. Plus, who wouldn’t want to say their wedding vows surrounded by modern art, a backdrop of endless sea, and huge skies!

Why The Turner Contemporary Wedding Margate?

After deciding to get married during lockdown—because if you can survive a global pandemic together, you can survive anything—they were more than ready to gather their family and friends for a proper celebration. And let’s be honest, everyone was more than ready for a good party by that point.

The Ceremony with a Sea View

The day began with a civil partnership ceremony inside the gallery, where the huge panoramic window and stunning sea view beautifully framed Zoe and Vinita as they exchanged their vows. It was a perfect setting for a heartfelt ceremony, made even more special by the contemporary art that surrounded them.

Confetti on the Terrace

Then came the part everyone loves: a confetti exit on the terrace! There’s something about watching colourful confetti being thrown with wild enthusiasm that just makes you smile. Vinita and Zoe took it all in stride, grinning ear to ear as they were showered with love, laughter, and enough confetti to keep finding in their pockets for days.

A Long Lunch with a View

Next up was the wedding breakfast—a long, leisurely lunch with a view. Guests enjoyed a delicious menu celebrating local produce, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented by the in-house caterers, Barlette. The speeches were heartfelt, with just the right amount of good-natured roasting, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and love.

Evening Celebrations at The Sunley Gallery

As evening descended, the party moved to the Sunley Gallery, where music and dancing took over. Vinita and Zoe had arranged for the incredible jazz singer, Ineza Kerschkamp, to serenade their guests, adding a touch of class (and some serious talent) to the evening.

The Nelken Line Dance at Sunset

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more fun, the couple invited everyone to join in The Nelken Line dance at sunset. Inspired by the artist Pina Bausch, this dance is simple, inclusive, and—most importantly—impossible to mess up. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or have two left feet, The Nelken Line makes you look like you know what you’re doing.

With the sun setting over Margate’s main sands, the entire wedding party moved together in a beautifully chaotic line, proving that dancing is really just about having a good time.

A Joyous Celebration to Remember

Vinita and Zoe’s civil partnership marriage at The Turner Contemporary Art Gallery Margate was everything you’d want in a wedding: heartfelt, joyful, and just the right amount of chaotic fun. It was a day filled with love and laughter.

Huge congratulations to this dear pair!

Kind words

“Thank you so much for the wedding photos. We LOVE them! They are such a wonderful record of what was a truly fantastic day. We know that our family and friends will be thrilled.

Zoe and I really enjoyed examining them in detail (!) to discover some of the things that had gone on when we were elsewhere. The reactions to the speeches were particularly good (especially for my friend Carole who had been so nervous about the idea.)

In the meantime, our heartfelt thanks for the fabulous work you did. It made such a valuable contribution to the wedding as a whole – the pre-ceremony shoot really helped Zoe and I feel comfortable and connected for the ceremony itself – and now we also have this wonderful record of the day.” Vinita & Zoe
