Colourful Plas Dinam wedding with fringe, tassels and a whole lot of party
Lucy and Dan’s Plas Dinam wedding was so worth the wait – and that’s saying something, because not only were they the last of my pandemic postponements, but we also postponed due to the birth of their gorgeous son too! Finally, two years after first booking, they had their wedding in May 2023 – and what a gorgeous weekend it was.
Laidback woodland ceremony
After a morning spent getting ready in the country house of Plas Dinam, Lucy and her bridesmaids walked down to the woodlands for the ceremony. All of the guests were sitting in dappled sunshine in a clearing underneath the trees as Lucy walked down the aisle with both of her parents, towards Dan and their son.
Their ceremony was super laidback, full of love and laughter while still being sincere and emotional. In a similar relaxed vein, once the ceremony had finished and their guests had started to head back to the lawn for drinks, Lucy and Dan pulled up two of the chairs and just had a moment to themselves with a glass of champagne each. That’s what I loved so much about their day: it was totally relaxed and 100% them at every turn!
Whilst I whisked Lucy, Dan and their gorgeous son away for some photos, their guests convened on the lawns and under the marquee for a bit of shade before heading for their meal.

Colourful party reception

Lucy and Dan’s reception was in one of the most gorgeous Plas Dinam wedding spaces, The Stables. Plas Dinam describe it as a “glass-roofed party barn”, and Lucy and Dan definitely brought the party.
Lucy decorated the venue herself, with loads of bold and metallic tassels strung across the ceiling and vibrant ombré candles in bright glass holders amongst bud vases filled with gorgeous flowers (arranged by a random nice lady from the village called Jane). On each wall they’d also hung a tasselled banner (which Lucy made herself and matched Lucy’s bag…more on that in a second), which all read really personal but lovely things. One of them was “Love lives on lollipops and crisps”, another read “Stay on my arms you little charmer”, and another read “Get on your dancing shoes”.

The best bridal party style
Now, let’s talk about it: Lucy looked INCREDIBLE. Lucy wore a gorgeous metallic pink The Vampire’s Wife dress with pearly white heart-shaped sunglasses, chunky white platforms and a fringed red and pink heart-shaped bag from Katie France. Her bridesmaids also looked sensational, with a gorgeous selection of pink, orange and red outfits that they’d picked themselves; again, styles that perfectly reflected them.

Plas Dinam wedding photographer
I absolutely adored shooting Lucy and Dan’s Plas Dinam wedding, a day as bursting with joy as it was with colour.
If you’re planning a Plas Dinam wedding and are looking for a laidback documentary photographer to capture it, then I’d love to chat. Or maybe you’re getting married somewhere else and want a day with similar energy to Lucy and Dan’s – I’d love to hear about your plans and how I can help. Get in touch here to tell me all about them!
