Sweet back garden wedding reception on Caledonian Road with Covid induced Micro Wedding ceremony at Islington Town Hall
Today I’m sharing with you Laura and Luca’s recent micro wedding at Islington Town Hall, which I loved photographed for this international pair. Laura and Luca had planned to bring their families together and have a destination wedding in Italy in September 2020. Still, like so many others, they had to postpone their big day due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With restrictions still in place, their plans had to change, and it would be a small, intimate micro wedding ceremony at Islington Town Hall just around the corner from their flat here in London.
They made the best of a very strange time and adhered to the Covid restrictions with a socially distanced micro-wedding ceremony at Islington Town Hall, followed by a sweet back garden reception on Caledonian Road at their flat. It was a lesson in how weddings come in all shapes and sizes and that a plan B can become a plan A, surpassing all expectations. Since only a limited number of guests were allowed, the day had an incredibly intimate and personal feel. Despite not having their families present, Laura and Luca were surrounded by a small group of close friends who made the day truly special.

The ceremony itself had to be short and simple, without music, readings, or personalisation, but even with these restrictions, the love and joy in the room were palpable.
After a socially distanced ceremony, completed with the accessory of the moment, face masks, we walked back to the flat via all the pretty Islington Street and took a few informal portraits. During the walk back, Laura and Lucas’s parents Face Timed to congratulate them. It was such a special moment to still share their day with their parents despite the geographical distances between them!
It was a privilege to capture Laura and Lucas’s micro wedding ceremony at Islington Town Hall. The ceremony reminded me that love knows no bounds, and even during a global pandemic, couples like Laura and Luca find meaningful ways to celebrate their love. Their simple backyard wedding will always hold a piece of my heart.

Kind words
“We wanted to say a BIG BIG BIG Thank you because you made our day SOOOOO special!!! We couldn’t have had a better photographer, light arranger, bag carrier, time manager etc…!!!!! Thank you so much for your patience and your amazing mood and attitude!” Laura & Luca
