We all know I love a London celebration, due in part to the number of incredible venues we have in the capital. With this in mind, I’ve wanted to shoot a The Hoxton Hotel wedding for a while – so when Becky and Paul’s enquiry landed in my inbox, I leapt to answer it. They followed their formal Catholic service with a reception at the super cool The Hoxton Hotel wedding space The Apartment – and it was incredible, from start to finish!

St Etheldreda’s Church service

Becky’s family are Irish, so they opted for a formal service at the oldest Roman Catholic church in England, St Etheldreda’s.

Not only is the building super historic – it’s one of only two remaining buildings in London from the reign of Edward I, which dates it back to 1290!) – but it’s also absolutely stunning. The stained glass windows and vaulted roof result in the most beautiful light and outside, it’s on a private street, so you can enjoy the building’s full facade too.

In addition, St Etheldreda’s is special to Becky and Paul because Becky used to walk past it every day to and from work!

The Hoxton Hotel wedding

Then Becky, Paul and their guests bundled onto a cream double-decker bus to take them to their The Hoxton Hotel wedding reception; and, in particular, to The Apartment.

The Apartment is a series of 7 specially designed interconnected rooms that can be hired separately or all together for events, including the Parlour, The Living Room, and the Pantry. It’s a totally unique space that has all the functions and fittings of a high-end venue, but with the privacy and comforting feel of a home (and the benefit of not having to clear up the next day – which allowed us to do an epic confetti shot inside, for max party vibes.)

Each room has a different, impeccable aesthetic, making a The Hoxton Hotel wedding an interior-lover’s dream. Becky and Paul played on this with some incredible styling, including blue candles atop the tables and flowers to accompany her stunning bright pink bouquet by Beacon Bloom. Their dress style was top notch, too, with Becky in a dramatic embroidered Pronovias dress (plus a chic beaded white handbag) and her bridesmaids in inky black.

This sophisticated chic carried throughout their The Hoxton Hotel wedding, with entertainment from a string quartet, handmade espresso martinis at the bar, and an old school photo booth too.

Laidback London portrait session

Another thing I loved about this The Hoxton Hotel wedding is the location. Based on High Holborn, it’s only a stone’s throw from so many of the iconic areas in Central London, but

I actually love the immediate area for portraits too. Thanks to a brilliantly well-oiled timeline from Holly at Revelry Events, we had loads of time to run around the streets. It was also lovely to be accompanied by Charlotte and Craig from Hello There Films – we were both looking out for the same things, the good light!

Kind words

And speaking of photos, here’s what Becky and Paul had to say when they got their The Hoxton Hotel wedding gallery back:

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! The photos are beautiful!

Looking through them, we are vividly reliving the day! When you spend close to a year planning all the details, praying for good weather, for friends and family to have a great time, and for everyone to just feel the love on the most important day of your life, you are left with the photos and memories, and honestly, you have managed to capture the atmosphere and all we hoped for perfectly!

The shots of us running around London are so special that it feels like it was all a dream! Honestly, you made us feel totally at ease, especially when you hate having your photo taken. Thank you so much for these photos! We will treasure them for the rest of our lives.

We could not have asked for a more professional and friendly person to take our photos; thank you! And thank you so much for having fun with us; you embraced the madness! It was a really fantastic day, and it wouldn’t have been the same without you there, running around with us; you were an integral part of our memories.”
