Relaxed Tram Depot wedding in two parts | Clapton Country Club Wedding Photography

Being a part of anybody’s wedding day is such a special privilege, but being a part of both of
their wedding days one year apart is even more so! That’s exactly what I got to do with Nikki
and Andrew, who had their legal wedding last year and then celebrated with a bigger
Clapton Country Club wedding this year.
The first part of Nikki and Andrew’s wedding took place near the Barbican, with the
ceremony at The Charterhouse Chapel and the reception at Le Café du Marché, a French
café just a stone’s throw away. At the time, Nikki was pregnant, so it was so lovely to meet
up with them again a year later, meet their little boy, and photograph the big party!

The nicest getting ready spot

As you’ll see throughout this wedding, Nikki has an incredible eye for style; and the house
they got ready in was no different. The stunning townhouse was minimalist, full of sleek lines
in a welcoming monochrome palette that served as a background for editorial photos.
The floor to ceiling doors out into the garden gave the ultimate lighting for makeup, too, and
the garden itself was a gorgeous spot for morning mimosas. Even the living room contained
2 stunning potted plants that framed Nikki perfectly – and, wonderfully coincidentally, echoed
some of the decorations on the table later at Clapton Country Club, which made my
photography heart very happy.
She wore a white halterneck dress and white shoes with bows (which was a similar but
updated version of what she wore to their first wedding). Her bridesmaids also looked super
chic in sleek black dresses (for more black bridesmaids’ dress inspiration, check out Hannah
and Adam’s winter wedding).

The Tram Depot wedding celebration

Clapton Country Club is part of the Tram Depot, an old Victorian depot next to Clapton
Overground station. It’s a total treasure trove of a wedding venue, lovingly revamped and
refurbished with an eclectic mix of upcycled furniture and finishings that give it a stylish but
homely feel. There’s so much you can do with the space and Nikki and Andrew decided to
have both a Clapton Country Club wedding ceremony and reception, so they split their day
into two different sections of the venue.

The Department of Life ceremony

Their Clapton Country Club wedding ceremony was in the Department of Life, a stunning
room with parquet flooring, exposed brick, glass and copper.
After Nikki and Andrew walked down the aisle with their son in their arms, their celebrant
began the ceremony (whilst lit by a perfectly positioned shaft of sunlight coming through a
skylight at the side of the room).
It featured a cocktail making ritual, which guests could join in with by sipping the serving they
had on their seat. Nikki and Andrew had also prepared a bingo card for their guests, which
they could tick off as they go!

After the ceremony, we all stepped out into the glorious sunshine for a confetti throw,
cocktails and canapés. Another great thing about a Clapton Country Club wedding is the
outside space, which is great not only for photos but also as a space to hang with your fellow
guests in the inevitable in-between moments that wedding days always have.

The Clapton Country Club wedding reception

For the reception, four long tables were laid with deep orange place cards as well as
incredible origami flowers that curved architecturally towards the ceiling (remember those
plants from when Nikki got ready?)
The venue oozes charm and character with its decor, with a disco ball, a pampas grass
cloud, and lots of beautiful chandeliers and lampshades hanging from the ceiling,
accompanying greenery that snakes around the room.
It’s not often that a venue is famed for its aesthetic and its food, but Clapton Country Club
nails both; their Sunday roasts are to die for, and their wedding food is no different. After
speeches, Nikki, Andrew and their guests enjoyed their meal, before going outside to soak
up more of the early evening sunshine.
Then: it was time to party. Aided by a huge industrial fan and an excellent band, Nikki,
Andrew and their guests let loose on the dancefloor. There was a limbo, shots, the bride and
groom on chairs in the air, and at one point, even a guest wearing the band’s tambourine as
a necklace…

Even one of Nikki and Andrew’s weddings was a total joy to photograph – having two to
