Stunning, Stylish Dulwich Wedding and Royal Chelsea Hospital reception

Sentimental Dulwich wedding ceremony

Alexia and David initially enquired with me about a destination wedding, but in the end they opted to get married in true London style. They had a beautifully emotional Dulwich wedding ceremony, and then hosted their super stylish reception in Chelsea.

Alexia and David chose to get married at Christ’s Chapel in Dulwich village, a venue that held special significance for them. This is because the church is not only connected to David’s school, but it also had particular meaning for his family, especially his dad. As such, they chose to have their ceremony there to honour him, as he is sadly no longer with us (and both Alexia and David’s mum carried a charm with his face on on the day – Alexia attached hers to the ribbon of her bouquet, and David’s mum pinned it to her dress).
Christ’s Chapel is a stunning historical venue, and as such is totally gorgeous on the inside as well as the outside. Inside, there’s ornate wood panelling and gold detail, which was the perfect contrast to Alexia’s stunning yet simple Lovely Bride wedding dress. Outside, the chapel opens out directly onto a picturesque courtyard, which served as the perfect backdrop for a confetti throw, group photos, and couples’ portraits too (which the sun even very kindly came out for.)

Sunny Chelsea wedding reception

After their Dulwich wedding ceremony, Alexia, David and their guests climbed aboard a vintage double decker bus to get to their wedding reception at the iconic Royal Hospital in Chelsea (for more Chelsea wedding inspiration, click here) .

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is a Grade I listed building that dates back to the time of Charles II and was designed by Christopher Wren. Not only is it the home of the Chelsea Pensioners, but you can also hire it for your event – with the added bonus of some Chelsea Pensioners giving you their wishes during your drinks, if you so wish.

Alexia and David held their reception in the Great Hall, a long, atmospheric space with incredibly high ceilings and an impressive checkerboard floor. Two long tables lined the room, one named France after Alexia (Allez les Blues!) and one named Malta, after David (Forza Malta!)
As well as stunning Lavender Green floral arrangements, Alexia and David also organised an ice luge for their guests, and a delicious croquembouche in place of a wedding cake.

I had the time of my life photographing Alexia and David’s Dulwich wedding – their elegant style paired with their and their guests’ incredible energy was a match made in heaven.
