It’s a privilege to shoot anyone’s wedding, but in particular another photographer’s, and especially another photographer who’s as talented as Ellie! She married her childhood sweetheart, Craig, in a gorgeous Hackney Town Hall ceremony, followed by a London pub wedding at the Londesborough, their local.
They went for a super laidback wedding day and eschewed any traditions that didn’t feel like them. For example, they kicked off the ceremony by walking down the aisle arm-in-arm with each other, and Ellie wore a fluted Franks LDN dress in a fabric that looked like liquid silver.
After a beautiful ceremony (so much love, so much laughter!) and photos in the art deco dream that is Hackney Town Hall, they and their guests made their way to the reception, a London pub wedding at the Londesborough.

London pub wedding at the Londesborough
Pub weddings are perfect if you’re going for laidback plans like Ellie and Craig – and they’re especially meaningful if they’re your local. They’d spent many an afternoon here, so it made perfect sense to have a London pub wedding at the Londesborough, Plus, it was lovely to see it full of all of their friends and family!
As it already had that public house charm, the room didn’t need much adding to it decorwise. Instead Ellie and Craig focused on finishing touches courtesy of their friend (and Ellie’s studiomate) Oh Squirrel. Katie worked her magic on a beautiful hand lettered banner with song lyrics, as well as place name ribbons tied around the napkins at every place setting (which I saw being used in increasingly creative ways as the day progressed!)
As with the ceremony, their London pub wedding at the Londesborough was understated, with good times and good people prioritised above everything else This made it the perfect place for Ellie and Craig to celebrate with their loved ones. In particular, special shoutout must go to Craig’s best men, who smashed their brief by forming a mini wedding band and performing a self-penned song all about Craig being a modern renaissance man in lieu of a speech. It had everyone in stitches!
Another reason you should consider a London pub wedding at the Londesborough is the food.
The meal was delicious – which isn’t surprising, considering it’s a gastropub that was voted one of Esquire’s Top 60 in Britain! – and then come 9pm, it was time for butties (name me a better dancefloor food…I’ll wait.) Ellie and Craig also decided against a traditional wedding cake and instead went for a tower of mouthwatering Crosstown doughnuts. Again, perfect dancefloor fuel!
