Rachel & Alex’s Wedding at The Glass House Hackney
Rachel and Alex’s wedding was one of those days that felt personal from start to finish — full of meaning, warmth, and plenty of laughter along the way.
Having met online, Rachel and Alex quickly realised how much they shared, with their faith playing a huge role in bringing them together. It made perfect sense that their wedding ceremony would be at the heart of the day, and St Mary’s Church, Stoke Newington couldn’t have been a more fitting setting.
A Joyful Ceremony at St Mary’s Stoke Newington
The ceremony itself was genuinely unforgettable. Led by the most wonderful (and very funny) vicar, it struck that perfect balance between heartfelt and light-hearted. Knowing Rachel works at BBC Sounds and is a keen amateur actor — with many of her friends deeply involved in theatre too — he cleverly wove in show tune references throughout the service. It had the entire congregation laughing out loud. What a legend!

Confetti & Abbey Park Portraits
After the ceremony, everyone spilled out into the sunshine for a huge confetti moment, beautifully organised by Flutter Darlings. There’s something about that just-married energy — hugs, cheers, petals flying everywhere — that always makes for one of my favourite parts of the day.
From there, we took a short walk over to Abney Park Cemetery for some portraits. It’s such a unique spot in London — a little wild, a little overgrown, and full of character — which made the perfect backdrop for some relaxed, natural moments away from the crowd.
The Reception at The Glass House Hackney
After a brief attempt at hailing a taxi (which turned into a bit of an adventure in itself), we made our way over to the reception at The Glass House Hackney. Light-filled and full of atmosphere, it was the ideal space for the evening celebrations.
The venue looked incredible, styled by Bloom East, who brought everything together with beautiful, thoughtful details that really complemented the space. As the day rolled into evening, the speeches were full of warmth and humour, followed by a packed dance floor that didn’t let up.

A London Wedding Full of Personality
It was one of those weddings that perfectly reflected Rachel and Alex, their story, and the people around them. A day full of meaning, music, and moments that won’t be forgotten any time soon.
If you’re planning a wedding in or around Abney Park Cemetery, I’d absolutely love to hear from you. It’s such a unique and characterful area and a perfect fit for couples who want a laidback day in the city, but feels like you’re in the countryside. If that sounds like your kind of day, feel free to get in touch — I’d love to capture it for you.
